Until Next Time

As I type this, the rain is quickly melting away the beautiful snow. I regret not driving to my Grandparents farm to take photographs over their fields, it would have looked amazing.

These are some more photos which I took during lunch at work yesterday. The factory is surrounded by fields, and although it's work, it's kind of nice.

Well, I guess that's it for the snow for another year. I've got a heap more photos will I'll be uploading to Flickr over the next few days.

Stay warm! x

Evening Sun

I nipped out on my lunch break with my camera and wandered around the factory snapping the beautiful Somerset snow. I know it's a total pain to have around, but I love it. I wish it would stay a little longer. Just as the sun started to set this evening I snuck out again to take a few more photographs, and loved this one.

There's just over 9 weeks left until the clocks switch to Summertime and the evenings get lighter. I'm excited for the lighter evenings, I just wish we had a Summer to look forward too! Another few months of drizzly rain will have to do, I guess.

Stay warm! x

Now Playing

I think this is the perfect song for the wintery evenings we're having. The snow is coming down heavily and settling on the roads again. I'm crossing my fingers for a snow day tomorrow! Stay warm x

Turning Three

I can't believe it, my niece, Amelia, is three! On the day she was born, I was jobless for the first time so I was having a lie-in. I got out of bed after hearing voices downstairs. Dad told me that my sister had gone in to labour and had been in hospital for a few hours. I ran upstairs, got dressed as quickly as I could and drove in to the hospital. I waited for almost 2 hours, and just after 10.40am, Amelia's Dad came out to the waiting room and sneaked me in to meet her for the first time. She was 7lb 4oz and every bit the cutest thing I've ever seen. My Mum and I drove in to town to buy pink clothes, toys and balloons! And since 19th January 2010, my life has never been the same!

3 years on, Amelia is the most important little person in my life. Her sense of humour is brilliant, she's a fast learner and she's so CUTE! This Saturday was her birthday. She celebrated with a morning of sledging with her Dad's family, and then we went down to my sisters new house to give her our presents. Ash and I opted to put some money in to her trust fund after spoiling her with toys at Christmas, but I couldn't resist getting her her very first Woody and Buzz Lightyear toys.

I love the above photo! She had no idea we'd got her a birthday cake as she'd already had one in the morning. Happy Birthday little one! Don't grow up too fast! X

Snowy Snapshots

What a beautiful few days it's been! Although sledging isn't my thing, I love how the snow looks from infront of the fire.

My sister had to move in to her new house this weekend, which proved more challenging than it should be, and I took a nice tumble outside the new place and landed straight on my bum! Her new place is opposite a pub though so a couple rum and gingers warmed me up once we'd help move some more things in.

We're expecting a little more snow this evening and some more again on Tuesday. I'd love another day off work due to my new favourite phrase - 'adverse weather.' Stay warm! x

Snowdogs

Ruby

Snow days are my favourite! Yesterday at work, I was asked to keep an eye on the forecast to see what the chances were of not being able to open today. There's 400 people where I work, so if the weather gets too bad, it's difficult to keep the car park in a usable and safe state. The snow came in at around 4am this morning. I have never been so happy to get a call at 6.30am from my boss!

Bailey

After a quick fry up and a cuppa, I headed outside with the dogs. The snow was coming down hard and my camera got pretty wet. It's still snowing pretty heavily now. Dad starting throwing snow balls up in the air for the dogs to catch. They didn't quite understand why they couldn't grab it in their teeth!

Meg
We then took a walk up to the main road and saw a few cars struggling to get up the small hill outside. In my opinion, it's not worth risking your car just for a days work!

Dexter
It's really beautiful out today. I hope it stays put for the weekend! My only complaint is that it didn't snow a month ago, I've still never seen a white Christmas!

Wrap up warm and stay safe! X

21 in Paris

One of Charlotte's recent posts made me nostalgic for our trip to Paris last February. We spontaneously booked a few nights at Hotel de l'Alma over my 21st birthday. Apart from being struck down with sickness for the entire time and missing out on the Moulin Rouge, it was still wonderful.

Silhouettes inside Notre Dame

Being scared by pigeons outside the Notre Dame!

My favourite thing to do in Paris is to walk from the Notre Dame to the Arc de Triomphe. I've done it each time I've visited the city and I always find something new. This time, it was Pont des Arts. Of course, I'd been there before when I was younger, but it felt right to wander along with Ash this time. Rumour has it, Pont des Arts has padlocks of couple who are deeply in love, whilst Pont  de l’ArchevĂȘchĂ© is where you would attach a lock with your mistress. They attach the lock together and toss the keys in to the Seine. Which is exactly what we did. We bought a padlock from a souvenir shop next to Notre Dame and scrawled on our lock. We wandered up to Pont des Arts, hung it on the bridge and threw our keys below. I really hope to go back to Paris soon and to see if we can find it again.

On the evening before my birthday, we had a table booked at the Hard Rock Cafe. The cocktails were amazing and the food was HUGE!

After we'd eaten, we caught the Metro to the Tower, blackmailed the security guards to let me go up with my Hard Rock shopping (it was a cocktail glass, they weren't impressed!) and waited on the top for midnight. This is probably a moment which I will never forget. There really was something so life affirming about that moment, it was my favourite of 2012.

We were due to go to the Moulin Rouge for my birthday. Well, we got there, but I was so sick that we couldn't stay. I wish I could have just sucked it up and enjoyed the show, but running to the toilets every couple of minutes was tiring and embarrassing. Ash managed to neck the champagne on our table, however, so he didn't do too badly! The next morning, we booked to come home on an earlier flight which was such a shame. But we made the most of our remaining time, and travelled up to Montmartre to look at my favourite view of Paris, below, and to visit Sacre Coeur.

Nearly a year down the line, I still have regrets about leaving early. But the fact that my illness lasted for almost two weeks after I got home proves it was for the best. We will definitely go back in the future. No matter what, we'll always have Paris.

Now Playing: January Blues Playlist

The first week back at work after Christmas has been hard work! In anticipation of tomorrows mid-week slump, here's 10 songs which I'm loving at the moment and made into a playlist. x

Instax 3

It must have been all the cocktails I drank on Christmas day, but come the evening I was feeling pretty sozzled and ended up getting a bit snap happy with my Instax!

Pheobe in her Santa costume. I'm sure she hates me! And you can just about see the Toy Story easel we bought for my niece for Christmas.

Drunk me with little Phe :)

Mum had just given Amelia a kiss good night and I ran in and said "SMILE!" :)

The worst thing about Instax is the cost, but it's worth it for the memories. x
